DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Enrolled Veterans in the Dayton area can now access Tele-Emergency Care services.
The Dayton VA is now offering Tele-Emergency Care to locally enrolled Veterans. The service is available immediately, according to a release on April 18.
New Vandalia bike path project will connect to Great Miami River Trail
To access the service, Veterans can call the Dayton VA’s main number at 937-268-6511 and then press “3.” Medical triage staff are available 24/7 to guide Veterans to the appropriate care services.
Tele-Emergency Care offers Veterans similar services to a traditional emergency room but from the comfort of their own homes. This allows Veterans to receive ER care without having to drive to a care center, and potentially wait for a long time for care.
While Veterans with severe or life-threatening injuries should seek help in an in-person emergency room or call 911, the Tele-Emergency Care can help Veterans with a variety of conditions including:
- Cough, cold, flu, and COVID symptoms
- Sore throats
- COPD and asthma flares
- Eye redness and irritation
- Tick and other insect bites
- Skin infections
- Minor allergic reactions
- GI illnesses
- Urinary tract infections
- Gout flares
- Muscle sprains/strains
