DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A murder suspect is in custody after 17 years, thanks to new access to technology.

On Thursday, June 14, the Dayton Police Department arrested a suspect in relation to a murder in 2007.

14 members of local motorcycle club swept up in nationwide investigation

Patricia Peck was found murdered in the back seat of her car at the Dayton Airport hotel 17 years ago, and a suspect was never arrested. In the past few months, the DPD Cold Case Unit has been working relentlessly on this case with previously unavailable resources.

Through assistance with the Ohio BCI and a grant from the Bureau of Justice Administration, the Cold Case Unit now has resources that were previously unattainable. The use of these resources has led to a suspect arrest.

The investigation is still ongoing and no suspects have been formally charged yet. DPD will provide updates as they become available.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends over the loss of their loved one, Patricia,” said DPD.
