Cincinnati suburb makes Fortune’s list of the 50 best places to live for families

If you’re looking for the best place to raise a family, then this Cincinnati suburb is the perfect choice.

Fortune Well, the health-focused subsidiary of Fortune Magazine, released its 2024 list of the 50 best places to live for families in the U.S. , and Mason took the No. 5 spot. Mason was the only Ohio city on the list, ranking above Franklin, Tennessee (No. 6) and below Ann Arbor, Michigan (No. 4).

Silver Spring, Maryland, ranked No. 1 overall.

Mason has a population of 36,581 residents and is the biggest city in Warren County, nicknamed Ohio’s Largest Playground . According to the report , Mason has highly rated public schools with a 95% graduation rate, above-average nursing homes, single-family homes with a median sale price of $397,661, and a “thriving small-business community.”

Mason also offers many career opportunities, as the suburb is home to the LensCrafters headquarters and the Procter & Gamble Mason Business Center.

But Mason isn’t just great for business. The city offers many fun, family-friendly parks, from Great Wolf Lodge to Kings Island . Mason is also approximately 30 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, where you can watch the Reds play at Great American Ball Park or take a day trip to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden or the Cincinnati Art Museum.
