Dayton resident finds ‘suspicious item’ in basement

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton resident working in the basement of their home had to call first responders after finding a “suspicious item.”

Dayton Police Major Jason Hall told 2 NEWS that first responders and the Dayton Bomb Squad was called Monday afternoon to the 100 block of N. Cherrywood Avenue in Dayton.

According to Hall, the homeowner was in their basement removing ceiling tiles. The person reportedly found a “cylinder container,” which was labeled as being a “hazardous device.”

When the Dayton Bomb Squad arrived and inspected the item, they transported the object for eventual disposal.
