Man on parole facing kidnapping charge in Liberty

LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Police say a man on parole for an attempted kidnapping conviction was charged with kidnapping again after they received a report from a woman who said he held her against her will.

Police met with a woman at a hotel on Perni Lane around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. She had reported that a man she had been seeing, 34-year-old Anthony Jackson, had assaulted her the previous day and then would not let her get out of the vehicle he was driving. She added that Jackson also took her phone and keys to her vehicle and refused to give them back, according to a police report.

Police were called after Jackson allowed the woman to get out of the vehicle to use the restroom at the hotel, the report stated.

Officers found Jackson sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot, and he told officers that he was waiting for a friend and kept asking if someone had “called on him,” the report stated.

Police learned that Jackson was on parole for an attempted kidnapping and assault conviction from 2022 in Trumbull County. He was sentenced to 13 months in prison on Nov. 14, 2023, for that crime, according to court records.
