Beavercreek schools earn millions in STEM grant funding

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) — Beavercreek City Schools will receive a large grant that will aid their STEM programs.

The DoDEA grants are awarded to schools that have military-connected students within their community. According to a release from the school district, more than 28% of their preschool through eighth grade students fall into this criteria. With the grant, Beavercreek City Schools will build out STEM learning opportunities for those grade levels.

These opportunities entail the following:

  • 9 mobile STEM labs
  • Curricular equipment and materials
  • Grant-funded STEM positions
  • Professional development opportunities for teachers

“This grant for mobile STEM labs is a great opportunity to positively impact STEM education in our district. It will bring innovative, hands-on learning experiences to all our students, especially our military-connected youth,” said district Superintendent Paul Otten.
