A man in his 60s was in his home when he was shot in his face Thursday evening, then ended up in the street when he went looking for help, Springfield police said Thursday night.

As reported as breaking news earlier this evening, Reporter Malik Patterson has learned that the victim remains at Miami Valley Hospital and police are looking for a suspect.

Police investigators said they believe the victim, after being shot, left his home on Tibbetts Street. At least one caller to 9-1-1 about 6:10 p.m. reported seeing a man in the street believed to have been hit by a car, Springfield police Lt. Mike Curtis said. The victim was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. His condition was not known, police said.
A SWAT unit joined police about two hours later and surrounded a house on Tibbetts, at the corner intersection with Selma Road, because they believed a suspect was in the residence. There were several people in the house and one man was detained, Lt. Curtis said.
