A 13-year-old Columbus girl who was abducted Friday morning and was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert has been found safe, but the man accused of abducting her is still at-large.
An Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatcher confirmed Friday evening that 13-year-old Mackenzie Hall was found safe at around 6:19 p.m. in Springfield, about 45 miles west of Columbus.
Shane Smith, 48, the man accused of abducting her, is still at-large. Columbus police dispatch said Smith’s white 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck was found abandoned in Springfield, but could not provide additional information. The Dispatch could not reach a spokesperson from the Springfield police department Friday evening.
Hall, 13, had been last seen Friday in the 400 block of South Huron Avenue near Westgate Park in the city’s Hilltop area when authorities say she was abducted by Smith, who is to be considered armed and dangerous.
Smith is described as a white male, 5-foot-11, weighing around 200 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. Anyone who sees him is urged to call 911 immediately.
