DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A well-known business owner and community icon took one final trip through Miamisburg on Thursday.
Known for more than his pizza, Ron Holp will be remembered by the Miamisburg community for his kind words and giving heart.
“He was a super friend of the community. Don’t get any better than Ron,” said John Critzer, Holp’s friend.
Dozens of people lined the streets downtown to honor the founder of Ron’s Pizza who died earlier this month. The final stop in the procession was in front of his pizza shop.

“It’s a great crowd. He deserves it. He’s a legend,” said Keith Goldsberry, Holp’s friend.
Holp opened Ron’s Pizza in 1964, and it quickly became a Miamisburg fixture .
“We started going to Ron’s Pizza out on 12th Street when I worked at DP&L. That was our Thursday after paycheck drinking hole,” said Goldsberry.
A founding member of the Miamisburg Merchant Association, Mayor Michelle Collins says Holp wanted to see every small business succeed.
