Mutual aid called to overnight fire in Medway

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A mutual aid response was called after crews found heavy smoke coming from a residential home overnight.

Firefighters responded just after midnight on Sunday to a house fire in the 300 block of Pine Road in Medway.

Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke and fire in the ceiling and attic of the home. Crews were able to knock down the fire and evacuate the family and pets living there.

All residents and pets were accounted for. The fire caused moderate damage which put the family out of their home. The Red Cross was called to help relocate them.

Mutual aid was called to the scene from Bethel Township, New Carlisle, Pike Township, Huber Heights, Mad River Township and Miami County.

Firefighters on scene say the fire began in the attic. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
