The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a special weather statement for Greater Cincinnati on Friday.
Snow mixed with rain is initially expected to spread across the area between 6 a.m. and noon on Friday. Locally moderate snow will also be possible as the day progresses.
The snow will affect the morning commute in the Cincinnati and Dayton metro areas. With temperatures slightly above freezing, much of the snow will accumulate on grassy and elevated surfaces. However, higher snow rates will reduce visibility and may cause roads to become slick, especially on bridges and overpasses.
Allow extra time to reach your destination if traveling on Friday morning, the NWS recommends.
Snow accumulations will vary from a half-inch to up to 2 inches, the report adds. Snow will taper off and will become rain and snow again during the afternoon as temperatures warm slightly.
Some slick spots may redevelop Friday night as temperatures drop below freezing. Highs will range from the lower to mid-30s west to the upper 30s east. Lows will range from near 20 in the north to the upper 20s along and south of the Ohio River.
