Unoccupied Dayton home suffers severe fire damage; investigation into cause underway

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — Thursday morning around 7:05 a.m., the Jefferson Township Fire Department responded to a fire on Colgate Avenue. Andrew Wiley, the District Fire Chief, said that upon arrival, it was obvious that the rear of the house was engulfed in flames. The firefighters were able to enter the home and extinguish the fire by 7:26 a.m. with the help of four other fire departments: Dayton, Trotwood, Moraine and West Carrolton.
