A chase involving a homicide suspect ended after the suspected crashed on US-68 in Clark County Wednesday.

A man called Springfield dispatchers and told them he had shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in the 700 block of Villa Road, according to a Springfield police sergeant.
A chase began with the suspect which eventually led to US-68 southbound.
As the suspect approached State Route 41 officers heard a gunshot come from the car and then it crashed into the guardrail and pole, the sergeant said.
When officers approached the car they saw the driver was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
