DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The snow expected to arrive in the Miami Valley Sunday evening is provoking the Ohio Department of Transportation to make a change to traffic patterns on I-75.
Starting midday Sunday, Jan. 5, ODOT will close the southbound contraflow lane between Needmore Road and Leo Street.
With driving in winter weather, ‘caution’ is the key to making it in one piece
The lane will remain closed until the storm has passed.
“Clearing snow and ice in a contraflow lane is challenging regardless of the amount of precipitation,” said ODOT in announcing the move, “but given the potential for a significant accumulation, we have determined the closure necessary to ensure the safety of both the traveling public and our crews.”
ODOT urges drivers to slow down during the storm, especially in work zones, and to give plows and other snow removers space to operate.
