Fighter Jet Exercise to Take Place Over Southern and Central Ohio Wednesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Residents in parts of southern and central Ohio may notice fighter jets flying overhead or hear the roar of jet engines on Wednesday morning.

The Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing announced it will conduct an air defense exercise between 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, with flights scheduled in and around the Dayton and Columbus areas.

During the exercise, fighter jets will operate in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft, which will serve as a “Track of Interest” (TOI)—a designated aircraft that could be considered a potential threat.
