A new bill in the Ohio Senate would require public schools to teach a concept known as the “Success Sequence” to students in grades 6 through 12.
Senate Bill 156, introduced by Sen. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield), defines the success sequence as completing high school, getting full-time work, and marrying before having children. Research cited in the bill shows that individuals who follow this order are much less likely to experience poverty as adults.
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce would be responsible for developing curriculum standards based on the best available research. A review committee made up of school board members and parents would help evaluate the materials…
