YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – As boating season approaches, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is encouraging anyone planning on operating a motorized boat to complete the Ohio Boating Education Course (OBEC).
The course is a legal requirement for anyone born on or after January 1, 1982, who operates a boat with over 10 horsepower. But, ODNR says anyone looking to improve their boating skills can benefit from the course.
“We want to make sure that everybody enjoys a day out on the water and has fun with their family, but we want to make sure they’re doing it safely by avoiding the alcohol, avoiding the drug usage, and just make it an enjoyable experience for everybody,” said Andy Foos, ODNR Boating Education Coordinator….
