Man involved in Kettering SWAT standoff formally charged

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man has been indicted for having drugs and guns after being found during a standoff last week.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office reports Shane Smith, 40, of Beavercreek, is facing several charges after he was found with drugs and guns during a standoff incident on June 17.

Kettering Police served a search warrant at the defendant’s residents on Mini Court, in relation to a missing persons case. The defendant refused to exit the residence, resulting in an hours-long standoff.
