Claw marks found on trash can point to bear in Xenia Township

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One Xenia Township couple found evidence of a bear visiting their home on Independence Day.

The pair, who live on Nash Road, wrote they heard a “loud scraping sound” at approximately 11 p.m. They said they didn’t think anything of it.

In the morning, they found that their trash can had been moved and had large claw marks on it.

They said the claw marks are roughly three feet off the ground and span about three inches. This is too big for a raccoon, possum or dog…
