Dayton, Ohio – Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, July 6, on Marathon Avenue in Dayton, after a 19-year-old man was wounded by gunfire.
Victim Arrives at Hospital With Gunshot Wound
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the incident came to light when the young man arrived at Miami Valley Hospital at approximately 1:50 a.m. via private transportation. He had sustained a gunshot wound that officials described as non-life-threatening.
Initial reports had mistakenly indicated that two people were shot during the incident. However, investigators later confirmed that only one individual had been injured.
The victim told deputies that he was standing outside a home on Marathon Avenue when an unknown vehicle approached and began shooting. He was struck during the gunfire, but no further information has been released about the suspected vehicle or any potential occupants.
