DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The annual Declare Dayton event is a collaboration between multiple local religious institutions and nonprofits to inspire hope and peace. It is this Saturday at RiverScape.
Declare began after the 2019 tornadoes. Through the collaboration, thousands of volunteers joined together to rebuild and restore both hope and communities. In 2020, Declare helped people in crises due to the pandemic. After the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Declare hosted community leaders for conversations on racial division and healing.
“Through seasons of violence, we declare and pursue peace. Amidst challenges of busing for high school students, we seek coalitions to provide transportation and support for teens and families. None of these efforts happen alone, but through partnership and collaboration with church, nonprofit and community leaders,” wrote Delcare executive director, Caleb Ingram.
