Butler County Community Mourns Loss of Teen in Fatal Car Crash, Another Seriously Injured

A tragic car accident has taken the life of a local teenager and left another with serious injuries early yesterday morning in Hanover Township, Butler County. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 2014 Acura lost control and struck a tree in the 2100 block of Ross Hanover Road around 1:40 a.m. The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene, while her passenger, also 17, was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital. Speed is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash, with drugs and alcohol not appearing to be involved, according to WLWT.

The Butler County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased teen as Alexa Miller, from Liberty Township. The second teen, whose identity has not been released, sustained serious injuries. Both were seniors at Lakota West High School, confirmed by Lakota Local School District. In light of this tragic event, the school district has mobilized a crisis response team to provide support and resources to students and staff affected by the loss. “With deep sorrow, Lakota Local Schools has learned of the tragic loss of one of Lakota West High School’s rising seniors,” stated the school district, as obtained by LOCAL12.
