SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — Aaron Rice, a 29-year-old formerly from Springfield, Ohio, has been sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to attempted armed violence, a class 1 felony.
The sentence, handed down by Judge Karen Wall, includes one year of mandatory supervised release following his prison term.
The case against Rice stemmed from an incident on October 1, 2024, when law enforcement officials, aware of an active warrant for his arrest from Ohio, observed him at a local playground.
