DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Multiple first responders and a local man are being honored for their life-saving actions in a water rescue in Sidney.
On Saturday, May 17, Sidney Police and Fire were dispatched to the Ralph J. Stolle Bridge near Custenborder Park by the old waterworks plant. They were sent to help four kayakers in distress: an adult man and three young girls.
Officials said the group became trapped in the dangerous “boil” of a low-head dam. This is one of the most dangerous situations that can happen on a river.
