DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The man accused of gouging out a security guard’s eye and mutilating the other in 2023 has been ruled competent to stand trial.
Thursday’s appearance at Montgomery County Common Pleas Court was the third competency hearing for James Fickling.
“The court has reviewed by the products of the evidence that the defendant is capable of understanding the nature and the objective of the proceedings against him,” said Judge Gerald Parker with the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. “The court hereby finds Mr. Fickling competent to stand trial.”…
