Ex-students sue Northmont schools for not protecting them from former bus driver Hunt

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (WKEF) — We’re following a Crisis in the Classroom out of Montgomery County. Four former Northmont City Schools’ students are now suing the district’s Board of Education, plus multiple current and former employees, saying they weren’t protected against a former bus driver’s alleged grooming and sexual assaults.

Matthew Hunt, 49, was arrested back in May and later indicted on nearly 100 charges, including rape and sexual battery. Montgomery County officials said Hunt worked at Northmont City Schools as a bus driver and is accused of having inappropriate and unlawful relationships with multiple now-former students.

On Wednesday, four former Northmont students filed a civil lawsuit in federal court against the district’s Board of Education, current superintendent Anthony Thomas, the district’s former superintendent Sarah Zatik, and five unnamed employees. They’re accusing each entity of failing to protect students from Hunt’s grooming and sexual assault.
