DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — Almost 73 years after his death, Airman First Class Sterling E. Newsome Jr. will be laid to rest at the Dayton VA National Cemetery with full military honors Thursday.
On November 22, 1952, Airman Newsome was on-board a transport aircraft with 52 other servicemembers heading to Alaska when the plane crashed into a mountain during severe weather.
