Oakwood Residents Advised to Update Passwords After CodeRED Emergency Alert System Breach

In November 2025, the City of Oakwood and other agencies across the country were affected by a security breach involving the OnSolve CodeRED emergency alert system. CodeRED, which sends emergency notifications, was taken offline while the company investigated the issue. According to officials, the breach was caused by a cyberattack.

Oakwood uses CodeRED for alerts but does not have access to the system’s internal database. Officials stated that attackers accessed and removed user data. The information may include names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and passwords linked to CodeRED accounts.

Residents with landline phones are automatically included in CodeRED alerts. Others must register to receive notifications on their cell phones. Authorities advise users who used the same password for CodeRED and other accounts to change their passwords. The breach does not affect 9-1-1 emergency services, which use separate systems…
