Englewood adopts generative AI usage policy

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – The city of Englewood passed a resolution to adopt a city-wide generative Artificial Intelligence usage policy at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

According to our partners at the Register Herald, Information Technology Director Jared Markland stated that the purpose of the policy is to create rules, standards, and oversight surrounding the emerging technology. This includes AI assistants, such as ChatGPT, CoPilot, Claude, and Gemini.

“With the application of AI ever evolving and constantly growing, it is imperative that we create a policy that can be the foundation of how we adopt these technologies and its uses to maintain public trust,” said Markland. “This will ensure that the uses are ethical, legal, and appropriate to serve the city.”…
