Dayton man indicted for 2004 murder

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton man has been indicted for the 2004 murder of an elderly woman after the cold case was reopened in 2025.

According to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, Dayton police were dispatched to a residence in the 4600 block of Genesee Avenue on a reported homicide on the evening of May 28, 2004. On arrival, they found 69-year-old Lillie Oglesby fatally beaten and stabbed in her home.

At the time, the investigation could not determine who the assailant was, and the case went cold.

However, over 20 years later, in 2025, Dayton’s Cold Case Unit re-examined the evidence and found a bloody print from a flashlight that was located at the scene of the murder…
