DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Wright State University has been given a full membership for the U.S. Space Command’s Academic Engagement Enterprise.
This is currently only available to a select group of universities / professional military education institutions. Wright State is the third school in Ohio, and the 89th in the nation, to join the Academic Engagement Enterprise.
“Joining Space Command’s Academic Engagement Enterprise will enhance Wright State’s technical exchanges with the Space Force to ensure we are addressing their most pressing needs, while also creating valuable opportunities for students to engage in real‑world challenges inside and outside the classroom,” said Wright State’s College of Engineering and Computer Science dean Darryl Ahner, Ph.D.
C. Martin Co. secures $47M contract for Wright-Patterson AFB
Ahner said the school’s academic and research programs closely align with Space Command’s mission. He said the College of Engineering and Computer Science’s research focuses on the following:
- Space access
- Space electronics
- Space situational awareness
- Orbital systems and advanced materials
The school also has a unique proximity to both Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Air Force Research Laboratory. Officials said this collaboration with the Space Command will bring the following:
- Lead students to become qualified professionals
- Advance space research / innovation
- Expand academic partnerships
- Inspire space strategy
