Woman accused of killing 72-year-old mom to be indefinitely committed

When police responded to Mekeshia Lattimore’s home in Middletown, they found her mother stabbed and Lattimore sitting in a chair staring at a wall, an investigator said in court.

Lattimore, 46, was ordered on Feb. 13 to indefinite hospitalization at a state-run psychiatric hospital after Butler County Common Pleas Judge Gregory Howard found sufficient evidence that she fatally stabbed her mother, 72-year-old Minnie Lewis, in October 2024.

She was indicted in December 2024 on counts including murder and felonious assault. Court records show that Lattimore was determined by staff at Summit Behavioral Healthcare in Roselawn to be incompetent to stand trial and not likely to regain competence within the timeframe allowed by state law…
