(WDTN) – A Miami Township Fiscal Officer was removed from his position Monday after attempting to invest millions in township funds for gold coins.
The ruling follows a one day trial that concluded earlier this month, where it was determined that Bob Matthews tried to invest $9.7 million from a township investment fund into gold coins.
The investment would have cost the township over $410,000 in fees. The move was blocked after the bank alerted the townships finance director. A move of this magnitude would have also needed at least two signatures from the board and countersigned by the township fiscal officer…
