‘Railroad torpedoes’ discovered while cleaning garage in Clark County

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Aging ‘railroad torpedoes’ were found while cleaning out a garage near Springfield, Ohio, on Monday.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call from a homeowner who reported finding approximately 30 ‘railroad torpedoes’ while cleaning out the garage in the 4700 block of Old Mill Road.

Deputies said those explosives were used by the railroad industry years ago and possibly contain potassium perchlorate, a chemical used in fireworks, explosive primers, flares, and other incendiary devices…
