Motorcyclist hits police cruiser responding to DV call

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A motorcyclist was injured after crashing into a police cruiser on Wednesday evening.

According to the Dayton Police Department’s James Rider, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an officer was driving through the intersection at Needmore Road and Old Troy Pike with their lights and sirens on. The officer was heading to a reported domestic violence call, as backup.

Officials said the motorcyclist failed to yield to the emergency lights / sirens and hit the passenger side of the cruiser. He was taken to a nearby hospital for what officials described as non-life-threatening injuries.

As for the suspect from the domestic violence, they’ve been located, arrested and booked into Montgomery County Jail with charges pending.
