MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) — Drones have become a key tool for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, helping deputies search for missing people, track suspects and document major scenes more quickly than traditional methods.
The sheriff’s office drone program started in 2019, with deputies participating in several trainings throughout the year. Chief of Staff Jeremy Roy said the drones are most often used to help locate people.
“We have either a critical missing adult or a child. So these are all actually equipped with either thermal or infrared that we can able to see somebody a heat signature at night as well. The other thing is to track suspects in the same manner if they were to flee from a scene or a crash or something like that,” Chief Roy said…
