DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — The Dayton Dragons won 8-5 on Saturday over the Lake County Captains, giving themselves a chance to split the weeklong series tomorrow at Day Air Ballpark.
The Dragons would jump out to an early lead, thanks in large part to the first four batters being walked in the opening inning. Yerlin Confidan and Esmith Pineda each recorded two RBI, while top prospect Alfredo Duno sent a home run to deep left field in the second inning. Four Dragons pitchers would combine for 14 strikeouts in the win.
Saturday’s was also notable with a group of area high school seniors recognized for their future plans. Nine total students have been nominated by U.S. Congressman Mike Turner to attend one of the service academies in the fall, with seven of them honored between the third and fourth innings.
