DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — A small, yet heartwarming rescue took place near the main entrance of the Miami Valley Hospital.
Hospital police and staff worked together to save a group of ducklings trapped in a storm drain near the facility Thursday afternoon.
The hospital says Hospital Police Officer Billie Leedy and Dispatcher Michaela McGaffic responded first to the call. They were soon joined by Johnny Casey from the carpenters’ shop, a facilities team member and even a visiting bystander who stepped in to help.
With patience and care, the team lifted the storm drain grate and safely retrieved the stranded ducklings. Moments later, the babies were reunited with their anxiously waiting mother nearby.
Hospital leaders say the rescue is a touching reminder of the compassion and teamwork that define the Miami Valley Hospital community…
