Traffic: Flooding and high-water alerts

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — All lanes are closed on both SR-725 East (at Washington Mill Road) and SR-725 West (at Penewit Road), due to flooding.

2 NEWS spoke to the Bellbrook Police Department, which said drivers should find alternative routes at this time.

Butler Twp. high-water alert

The Butler Twp. Police Department shared a high-water alert for multiple roads in the area, including:

  • Little York Road, between Frederick Pike and Stoner Road.
  • Meeker Road, between Heathcliff and Westfall roads.
  • The intersection of Frederick Pike and Peter’s Road.

“Please exercise caution and avoid driving through flooded areas or around barricades. Emergency responders are actively engaged in multiple locations working to maintain community safety,” wrote the Butler Twp. PD.

Greene County Roads

The Greene County Engineer shared a post and said three roads are closed:

  • Lower Bellbrook Road
  • Stewart Road
  • Washington Mill Road

It also shared road safety advice:

“Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”

  • If you see barricades out for a road closure, don’t drive around them and don’t move them.

Be aware of invisible damage.

  • High water can cause undermining / berm washouts, which makes it dangerous to drive.

Slow down and stay aware.

  • Don’t drive through water on the road, even if there isn’t a barricade.

Report any flooded roads…
