Conyers denies rezoning for Tinsley Drive property

CONYERS — The Conyers City Council voted to deny a request to rezone a property on Tinsley Drive after city staff and planning commissioners raised concerns about expanding commercial and mixed-use zoning into a residential area.

The council’s decision at its Wednesday meeting came after a public hearing on Ordinance No. 1476, a request to rezone property at 1150 Tinsley Drive from the Downtown Edge sub-area to the Downtown Center sub-area of the city’s downtown zoning district.

The property owner, One Larkin Holdings LLC, sought the zoning change in hopes of attracting a buyer for the property, which includes a roughly 2,000-square-foot home built around 1940 and an accessory building at the rear of the lot…
