Austell Teen Accused of Stabbing Mother with Scissors

An Austell teen is accused of stabbing her mother in the chest with scissors.

Taylor Le-Nayah Evans, 17, is accused of stabbing her mother, Lekeita Slaton, in the chest with scissors on Jan. 20 at 8:50 a.m. at 7241 Bridgeport Court in Austell, a residence in the Bridgeport subdivision off Blairs Bridge Road near the intersection of I-20 and Thornton Road, according to an arrest warrant by the Cobb County Police Department.

Evans was arguing with her mother about having to run errands. When Slaton turned to leave, Evans picked up the scissors and attacked Slaton from behind. Slaton suffered two shallow lacerations across her chest and left breast, according to the warrant.

Evans is charged with aggravated assault weapon. She was arrested on Jan. 20 at 9:09 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.

Evans was released on a $15,000 bond.
