Four in custody after stolen car chase prompts school lockdown in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Four people were arrested Friday after a stolen car chase ended with a crash, a foot chase and a brief lockdown at Tucker Middle School, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Officials said the incident began around 2:40 p.m. when a trooper spotted a black Kia Rio that had been reported stolen traveling along Brockett Road near Stone Mountain Parkway. As another trooper approached with lights and sirens, the driver nearly hit the trooper’s vehicle before speeding off.

A chase ensued, and at Lawrenceville Highway and Brockett Road, the driver sideswiped three cars while pushing through the intersection at a low speed. The driver continued to flee, evading a PIT maneuver and jumping curbs into nearby parking lots.
