Juneteenth celebrations set in Conyers, Covington

CONYERS — Area residents will have ample opportunities to celebrate Juneteenth this year, with events taking place in both Conyers and Covington.

In Covington the observance is set for June 14 and will feature a Juneteenth parade and festival. The day’s events will be capped by a concert and fireworks.

The celebration, presented by the Newton County Historical Committee on Black Heritage Preservation, begins at 10 a.m. with a parade that steps off at Legion Field on Mill Street and proceeds through downtown Covington.
