ATLANTA — Atlanta’s Juneteenth celebrations bring culture, joy and history to the forefront.
From parades and music festivals to art parties and family gatherings, the city offers powerful and celebratory ways to honor the day the last enslaved people in the U.S. learned they were free.

Atlanta’s Juneteenth Parade and Festival
One of the largest Juneteenth events in the Southeast returns to Piedmont Park. This two-day, family-friendly festival includes a Black History Parade, live music on multiple stages, food trucks, a car show, a cultural 5K and a huge vendor market. Saturday hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
Another highlight is the Sandy Springs Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. This free event features live performances, food trucks, and hands-on experiences, including a West African drum circle, a genealogy exhibit, and student-created digital art displays. A dance and theater show called “IMANI” begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Byers Theatre. More info…
