ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Georgia Department of Revenue has issued nearly three million tax refunds totaling more than $1 billion.
On Monday, the department said the refunds represent a little more than 90 percent of the total refunds its anticipates issuing this year. The department said another round of refunds will be issued in October for taxpayers who filed their 2024 returns on an extension.
The department said a total of $1,006,766,461.54 has been issued so far.
Here’s who’s eligible…
- Taxpayers who have filed both 2023 and 2024 individual income tax returns, have paid into the system, and do not owe the state Department of Revenue. An individual filer’s refund amount will depend on their tax liability from the 2023 tax year and is capped at:
- $250 for single filers and married individuals filing separately
- $375 for head of household filers
- $500 for married individuals filing jointly
