20-Year-Old Man Shot in Suspected Attempted Robbery Near Southwest Atlanta Gas Station

A 20-year-old man was shot during what is believed to be an attempted robbery on Sunday near a southwest Atlanta gas station, according to authorities. The incident took place on the 1900 block of Campbellton Road around 5:30 p.m. FOX 5 reported that the Atlanta Police Department responded to calls about a vehicle hit by gunfire at the scene near the BP gas station.

In a seemingly separate yet possibly connected case, another man was found with gunshot wounds at the same BP off Campbellton Road, but earlier last Saturday morning. Atlanta News First detailed that officers discovered the victim around 5:30 a.m., and he was quickly transported to the hospital with expectations of recovery. Despite the proximity in location and timing of the incidents, the police have not confirmed any connection between the two shootings.

Following the Sunday shooting, less than an hour after police arrived at the crime scene, the young man was dropped off at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was suffering from a gunshot wound, yet remained alert and, as officials later said, is expected to survive his injuries.
