Avondale Estates breakfast spot forced to close after rising rent, road construction, owner says

AVONDALE ESTATES, Ga. (Decaturish) — A popular breakfast spot in Avondale Estates Tudor Village is closing due to rising rents and a disruptive road construction project.

Rising Son owner Hudson Rouse said the restaurant will close at the end of the month, though some of its more popular items will be on the menu at his new restaurant, Babygirl, at the Hosea + 2nd development in East Lake. The restaurant is expected to open this year.

“We always hoped Rising Son would continue, but it came down to the lease,” Rouse told Decaturish. “While we had originally locked in a five-year lease with two options to renew back in 2016, by the 10th year it became clear that the lease no longer served the business. The landlord was unwilling to negotiate a new agreement, and without that stability, we couldn’t responsibly continue.”…
