Dr. Cynthia Simmons Turner Named DCSD Social Worker of the Year

Dr. Cynthia Simmons Turner, a 42-year veteran in education, has been honored as the DeKalb County School District’s 2025–2026 School Social Worker of the Year. She received the award during the district’s annual Social Work Services celebration.

Dr. Turner has spent nearly 36 years serving DeKalb students, primarily in the Cedar Grove School Cluster, helping families overcome challenges like poverty, trauma, and bullying. Before joining DCSD, she worked six years in Florida and earned degrees from Florida A&M University, Florida State University, and Clark Atlanta University
