Roswell native achieves highest US Navy rank for an enlisted sailor

A Roswell native has recently been promoted to Navy master chief, the highest rank an enlisted sailor can achieve in the branch, and the top 1% of ranks an enlisted sailor can attain.

Master Chief Petty Officer Lori Bent, who has served in the Navy for 18 years, will now be working directly for the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy.

The officer’s new position will involve preparing the next generation of sailors for service and the challenges they may face ahead, something Bent says has inspired her career evolution.

“It is incredibly rewarding to watch these future leaders accomplish their professional dreams and personal milestones. We grow together, achieve goals together, and I get to watch them mature and assume the roles and responsibilities I’ve held during my career,” Bent said in a Wednesday release from the Navy Office of Community Outreach…
