Video captures elk charging woman walking dog at Evergreen Lake

EVERGREEN, Colo. (KDVR) — FOX31 captured the moment an Evergreen woman was charged by two elk near the lake as she was walking her dog on Wednesday.

Thousands visiting Colorado’s high country are likely to encounter wild animals in the spring, especially bears and elk. While elk and other wild animals are beautiful and may seem docile, they can become aggressive in a matter of seconds. Three people were injured by elk in Estes Park in 2024.
